In October 2020, Prime Minister Suga declared the goal of realizing a carbon-neutral, decarbonized society by 2050. In order to achieve this goal, Japan will lead decarbonization globally by establishing innovative technologies and mobilizing all possible measures, which allow the “Beyond Zero” initiative which is an approach which not only allows carbon neutral efforts to become possible worldwide but also retroactively reduces CO2 emissions in accordance with the stock base approach, and public implementation thereof.
"Innovation Cases" is an activity to introduce the latest cases of technology development and diffusion which are expected to contribute to climate change in the fields of energy and environment. The activity helps us to understand the state and trends of innovations, and also provides useful information for creating new innovations in the fields of energy and environment.
ICEF develops roadmaps on how key innovative technologies can contribute to a transition to clean energy. Roadmaps consider industrial, academic and governmental perspectives to identify a realistic, fact-based pathway and meaningfully inform the work of all stakeholders.
ICEF roadmaps are collaborative documents developed from the concurrent sessions in our annual conference and refined by reviews and suggestions from specialists.
